Elon Musk Claims Trumps Involvement in Epstein Files Prevents Their Release

Elon Musk claims that the “Epstein files” have not been released because President Donald Trump is implicated in them. Trump’s name has appeared in Epstein-related court documents, including Epstein’s contact book and flight records. Musk posted on X that Trump is in the Epstein files and that this is why they haven’t been made public. He did not provide evidence for his claim. House Democrats have called for a response from Justice Department officials. Trump and Epstein were friends in the 1980s, and Trump’s name has come up in litigation related to Epstein, though there is no evidence suggesting Trump was involved in Epstein’s sex trafficking. Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called Musk’s claims “unfortunate.” During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump indicated he supported making government documents related to Epstein public if elected. Attorney General Pamela Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have promised to release documents related to Epstein, though other agencies like the CIA have been silent on the matter. Some Epstein documents have already been released, including a contact book listing Trump and his family members, and flight logs mentioning Trump as a passenger. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club was also featured in Epstein-related litigation. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Musk has denied any connection to Epstein.
